Passion for history – commitment to remembrance
The German Titanic Association
Hardly any ship moves people as much today as the Titanic. It stands for technical progress and human ambition, for a tragic fate and for the end of a glorious era. The story of this legendary ocean liner is touching – and at the same time awakens curiosity for more: Who were the people on board? What did the world look like at the time of the maiden voyage? And what secrets does the sinking hold to this day?
The German Titanic Association of 1997 e. V. offers a unique home to all those who would like to engage more intensively with the Titanic, its time and its stories. Founded on June 11, 1997 by dedicated Titanic enthusiasts, the association today unites members from all over Germany and beyond – from those interested in history to model makers, researchers and film fans.
What unites everyone is passion. In voluntary work, the members are committed to keeping the memory of the Titanic alive, making well-founded knowledge accessible and networking like-minded people. The association sees itself as an open forum for all those who want more than just the headlines – namely a deep, respectful look at one of the most moving chapters in maritime history.
Sharing knowledge, bringing history to life
The heart of the German Titanic Association is its own magazine: „Der Navigator“. The high-quality magazine in A4 format is published four times a year – with around 60 pages full of well-founded articles, rare pictures and careful research. The focus is not only on the Titanic, but also on other historical ships, maritime technology and stories from the world of seafaring. Many articles appear exclusively in this form – a real treasure chest for those who want to dive deeper.
But the association does not only live on paper. Once a year, it invites to the public General Assembly, a special event for members and interested parties. Lectures, film evenings and personal meetings with experts make the meeting an experience – a place where passion is shared, knowledge is exchanged and friendships are made.
The German Titanic Association is also active outside the association: as a sought-after contact person for the media, cooperation partner for educational projects and – particularly impressive – as a technical companion of the exhibition „Titanic – DIE AUSSTELLUNG“. Association chairman Malte Fiebing-Petersen contributes his extensive knowledge there, advises the exhibition team and takes visitors on a fascinating journey into the world of the Titanic during guided tours.

Why membership is worthwhile
Membership in the German Titanic Association opens access to a community dedicated to the remembrance, research and preservation of the history of the Titanic.
The association magazine Der Navigator is published four times a year, supplemented by exclusive background information. There are also special advantages in cooperations – for example with the Titanic exhibition: reduced admission, special tours or invitations to special events.
The annual fee is €22 within Germany or €30 abroad. Membership begins with the payment of dues and is automatically extended after one year, but can be canceled at any time at the end of the membership year – very easily and informally.
Family membership is also possible. All persons living in the same household share the benefits and receive joint access to the world of the Titanic.
Active participation is not required. Whether co-design or silent participation – every form of membership is welcome.
